A letter to the union on the underpass of Florence TAV
Some / people / s of the "Committee against the underpass TAV" critically attended the conference held today at the Palace of the Guelph, organized by the CGIL. The occasion was to be in the proposal made by the current review that "The CGIL we want," a discussion and a debate between supporters of the underpass and the strengthening of the surface lines.
Apart from the statement by Professor Tree Ziparo that summed up all the criticism of the project "under" and in particular the lack of EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) station on Foster, the Committee welcomed with interest to the Prefect Dr. Padoin that has condemned the lack of comparison this work between institutions and citizens, said the anomalous increase in the cost of operations in Italy and promised oversight of construction sites to prevent infiltration, in games of subcontracting firms reactions to the mafias.
Unfortunately the opportunity was certainly not that of a peaceful confrontation, but a substantial Tuscan soliloquy of the main institutions that have wearily repeated the same arguments. Some people have exhibited Committee flags with the words "NO TAV TUNNEL" to report their disappointment at the lack of dialogue. A service order of the union, unnecessarily oversized, has even tried to avoid this civilized sign of dissent.

The letter to the mayor / citizens / s who oppose the project under crossing of Florence TAV have been calling for years for a comparison of public institutions in which they demonstrate, beyond advertising slogans, the usefulness of this work.

A proposito dell'occupazione prodotta da questi grandi cantieri dobbiamo ricordarci un lavoratore, Pietro Mirabelli, “lancista” nei cantieri CAVET in Mugello, morto pochi mesi fa in un incidente sul lavoro in una galleria in Svizzera, dove si era rifugiato perché mobbizzato nei cantieri italiani. Fu Pietro che ebbe il coraggio di denunciare e far capire che il lavoro che c'è in questi cantieri non è buono, che non è ben pagato, che non è molto, che è frutto di giochi vergognosi di appalti e subappalti che portavano a scaricare sugli ultimi – i lavoratori e le piccole ditte – tutti i costi sociali, umani ed economici di queste grandi opere. E' bene ricordare che, in passato, nel gioco di appalti e subappalti dei cantieri TAV siamo arrivati a far sì che gli ultimi realizzatori concreti dell'opera ricevessero il 10% della spesa sostenuta dallo stato; il 90% degli importi si distribuiva nei vari passaggi, spesso in società in odor di mafia.

Un ultimo favore chiediamo: non continuate a raccontarci le favole che con la liberazione dei binari di superficie si potenzierà il servizio regionale, guardate sulla linea Firenze Bologna liberata dai treni TAV: c'è il deserto. Non continuate a spacciarci la capacity of a line with its actual use, where you will find other resources for 220 regional trains with the cuts if the government is reduced current supply of local public transport and where billions of euro will be spent in a useless ? Definition of 7 but no more, pretty weak on long shots, and there are also problems on some close-ups. In general, far too soft . The color scheme is the best thing about this DVD, no smudges, and probably very close to the original beautiful photography (G. Willis). Clear, unfortunately, excessive film grain, not the "good", but much compression. There is also an aspect ratio a bit 'vague (2.35, the original) but the picture does not seem to be affected, so you can not call it a real drawback. Despite several flaws, the video is not bad, mind you, is certainly one of those movies that needs improvement. Original sound very clean but does not give too much emotion. One of the "last" Western, in fact very peculiar and rare, akin to Peckinpah and the nostalgic vein of those years. Distributed in Italy only recently by Koch Media, master with probable MGM at a price nearly quadruple (competitivissimi)!

Film absent from the shelves for years now Italy, the failure of Days Lost (one could say the same for many Warner gone and never reappeared FC) is still very serious . Rather, these titles because they sell out so quickly? Sorry, however, even more so since the Universal edition, although not to the levels Warner, place it on the 8 for sure. The film has undoubtedly been painstakingly restored to and, although half of the '40s, as a spuntinature and scratches, comes off very better than other films. High definition, under a little dull and sometimes wavering, but thinks the perfect contrast to revive the situation. Easily intelligible sound, very clean, almost no background noise. Apart from the horrifying menu and the lack of extras is a DVD that you can not complain.

Un Paramount, in fin dei conti, piuttosto mediocre. Ci sono molte sequenze che sembrano tutto fuorché restaurate, tempestate da spuntinature e una resa non soddisfacente. La definizione è generalmente just enough, sometimes much less, especially on long shots (very poor detail) and in the less illuminated scenes. If the groove, but better in the light of day. Even the colors are not very convincing: it goes from scene to other overexposed to say the least subdued. The original audio is the best card on this DVD, with good level of ambience and incisive dialogue. You can not say the same, unfortunately, the track dubbed technically almost painful, and with a choice of highly questionable entries. No extras. A title that probably will never go out in BD, but it would be better to wait for a remastered re-release, at least.

output recently, is one of the worst Flamingo. Video insufficient, which tends to master non-restored green, traces of chrome everywhere, spuntinature to no end at all times. Sometimes it has problems of stability, is opaque and generally not very well defined. OAR of 1.85, however, respected, and good audio track including the original. Usual extra Flamingo. All this is obviously not enough to lift the situation. Not recommended, for sure. Avoid.
ps: from 40:42 to 40:47 minutes, the DVD presents a case of Flamingo freezing : playback stops for a few seconds, then starts again, causing a temporary spixellamento (thanks to riki333 for the alert!). In fact, the defect is present and the analysis made on the sector of the disk, it is the classic "bad sector". Not at issue, to say the least.
Update 23/2/2011, Warner : Having recently taken over the Flamingo, I did not remember it was so mediocre, so I decided to try the trusty Warner, and there is no history. Not so much a definition in the sequences darkest (I expected a bit 'more to Warner, in this sense), but how much brightness, detail, and then, there's more! In more enlightened sequences (frame # 1 ), however, is immediately to the surface the next level. Even the contours are more defined and the general definition is perfect on many occasions - as I said before, less in others. But the greatest advantage lies in the restoration, removal of annoying traces of chromium in amounts on the master Flamingo. Obviously, there are coding errors. Even the sound is superior, more determined and better distributed. Extra zero. This is Warner in 2002, never reprinted, and now available separately cost is not very honest. There is an alternative, that this economic box.

Although I have ten years on his shoulders, is a DVD that has nothing to envy the best Warner Bros. Frames really speak for themselves, a quality scary constant throughout the film. Difficult to see some spuntinatura. The sequence filmed in the cave, in the first part of the film, is the only one to suffer from artifacts and less definition. In the last sequence, in the cave, there is a more veiled and soft but deliberate . Almost no extra ma è normale. Non segnalo mai i trailer come veri extra, ma quello di Them! è una chicca!
Questo DVD NON include lingua italiana, eppure tutte le altre principali ci sono. Non so proprio chi detenga i diritti per l'Italia del film di Douglas, dato che in tutti questi anni nessuno si è mosso.
